Tamatar ki chaat is a popular food of Banaras and is only available there itself. Tamatar ki chaat is prepared by cooking mashed potatoes and chickpeas with spices and a lot of tomatoes, and the latter is the star ingredients. The dish is itself very delicious and full of all flavors.
Ingredients: (Serving: 6 plates)
1. 2 tablespoons clarified butter/ghee + Extra for assembling
2. 2 tablespoons ginger, grated
3. 8 -10 tomatoes. medium size
4. 3-4 green chilies
5. 2 tablespoons coriander powder
6. 1 teaspoon cumin powder
7. 1 teaspoon turmeric
8. 1 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
9. 1 teaspoon garam masala
10. 1 1/4 teaspoon amchoor
11. Salt to taste
12. 3 potatoes, boiled, mashed
13. 1/2 cup chickpeas
14. 1 Cup water
15. 4 tablespoons sugar
16. 1 teaspoon roasted cumin seed powder + extra for assembling
17. Chaat masala
18. Lemon juice
19. Fresh coriander
20. Sev
