1) Setting boundaries work is exceptionally important and must be taught, talked about and encouraged in our children and teens so they can be empowered for the when/if these circumstances happen. Good safe boundary setting must be normalized.

2) We must change the narrative around these conversations. Currently the narrative language is weighted to blame the victim/survivor. For example, we talk about how many women were raped or assaulted this year, not how many men/boys assaulted them.

3) We must find the courage to keep talking about these challenging topics, circumstances and situations in a way that removes the blame and the shame and can become so counterproductive; but rather have the courage to have conversations that matter. The kind where the truth is told, heard, acknowledged and healing begins.

4) That it takes monumental courage to speak these he said/she said conversations. But if we don’t, then it only continues. Different people. Different places. This kind of thing happens all the time, but we cannot normalize the silencing and shame. So we must find the courage to speak up, speak out and stand up for ourselves - so the behaviour is recognized immediately and can be stopped.

When one woman tells the truth about her life, the world splits wide open.

Candice is a mom who lives a minimalist lifestyle, owns a tiny home (324 sq ft), loves to travel with her partner in life and dance Mark; and can never resist the urge to take off her boots to walk barefoot into a clear mountain lake or stream. When she is not connecting or writing, she can be found disappearing into the backcountry trails of Canada and losing herself exploring waterfalls and mountain trails. She is a quiet introvert who adores eating clean vegan foods and reading a great book.
