On Today's Best Of CC, it's a look back at the Jim Morrison Birthday Celebration, including all three episodes of my interview with one of Jim's best friends and the author of "Jim Morrison: Friends Gathered Together," as
Frank Lisciandro kicks off the show to talk about his book, The Doors movie, the book "No One Here Gets Out Alive," Jim's alcoholism. the "Young Lion" pictures and posters, being at UCLA with Jim and Ray Manzarek, Jim's student film, and how he felt initially about Jim and The Doors' chances for success!
Plus, discussions about early Doors recording and performances, their wild quick rise to fame in 1966-1967 including a Time Magazine article, editing "Feast Of Friends," and the filming of and ideas behind "HWY," The Doors releasing live shows to try and cancel out bootlegs, plus Frank discusses all the unreleased Jim Morrison spoken and written poetry!
And finally, Jim's poetry recordings from 1969 and 1970, and what's been released and what hasn't, Jim leaving for Paris and what he said about his plans there, how Frank heard about Jim's death and his thoughts on the machine behind the mythology that maybe Jim had faked it, his thoughts on Jim as a lyricist, more on the Doors movie, Frank's books and more!
