The Intercept recently published a story titled “Under Cover of Mass Death, Andrew Cuomo Calls in the Billionaires to Build a High-Tech Dystopia.” The story outlines new government programs being created during the new coronavirus pandemic that include new forms of surveillance and new forms of technology for online schooling; and it captures a growing concern shown across the United States that expanding government powers may last beyond the current crisis.

To get a better understanding of this situation, we speak with Dustin Bass, co-host of The Sons of History and a contributing writer to The Epoch Times. He explains historical cases of crisis legislation, and shows how new powers created are rarely done away with completely once the incidents end.
