LSU lineman shows frustration

Things took an nasty turn at the end of Wisconsin’s opening-game 16-14 upset win over No. 6 LSU on Saturday. After safety D’Cota Dixon secured the win following a late-game interception, LSU offensive lineman Josh Boutte blindsided with a massive clothesline hit as Dixon celebrated the play. Boutte was immediately thrown out of the game for a flagrant personal foul, but after the game, LSU head coach Les Miles came to his defense. He prefaced by saying that he still “has to see the film,” but that Boutte is “not a malicious guy.”

My top 5 after opening weekend

Before this weekend I liked Clemson in the #1 spot, but

  1. Alabama- Freshman QB Jalen Hurts looks to add something extra to a very strong team.
  2. Clemson
  3. Houston
  4. waiting for the FSU vs Ole Miss game
  • 4/5 spot will be between FSU with a strong game

and Ohio St. If FSU loses you could see Michigan or Stanford jump up to my #5 spot

F*ck Cancer

Pitt running back James Conner, who overcame Hodgkin Lymphoma during the offseason, led the Panthers out of the tunnel and on the field Saturday scored himself two TD in a 28-7 home win over Villanova at Heinz Field.

Paying tribute to a punter, teammate and a human being

Nebraska pays tribute to the recent loss of punter Sam Foltz. Foltz died in a car accident on July 23rd of this year along with former Michigan St. punter Mike Sadler coming back from a kicking camp they were helping to teach.

When the time came for the Huskers to punt for the first time, the Huskers paid their deceased teammate an on-field tribute.

They lined up with 10 players, with Foltz’s punter spot empty. And then they waited for the play clock to expire. The Huskers knew they’d get a delay of game, but they didn’t care. They'd decided it was worth the penalty to signify they couldn’t play without remembering Foltz. The crowd gave a huge ovation.

And Fresno State responded with class, declining the penalty and yardage. They wore helmet stickers to honor Foltz, as well.

#1 Alabama vs. USC recap

NFL

Chiefs could be in a bit of a pickle

The Kansas City Chiefs will start the season without Justin Houston.

The linebacker was placed on the physically unable to perform list, the team announced this week.

Houston will miss at least the first six games of the season.

The 27-year-old pass rusher battled knee issues in 2015, missing five games.

Vikings roller coaster week

- Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater suffered a dislocated knee and a torn ACL when he went down during a non contact drill at practice Tuesday.

Bridgewater dropped back to pass during a drill, planted his foot and immediately went down.

With the Vikings lacking talented depth at QB ie. Shaun Hill, they had to make a move, and here is what they did….

- Viking trade to get Eagles starting QB Sam Bradford in exchange for the 2017 seasons 1st round pick and a conditional 2018 4th round pick.

Terms of the conditional 4th round pick:

  • if Vikings make it to the playoffs, 4th turns into a 3rd round pick
  • if Minnesota wins the Super Bowl, 4th turns into a 2nd round pick

Who won in this deal?

VIKINGS

  • on paper it looks like the Eagles had the Vikings over a barrel and took full advantage, but I think it may be more equal than it appears.
  • The Vikings couldn't have 16 games of Shaun Hill in the new stadium.
  • of the $35 million 2 year contract the Eagles made with Bradford this past Feburary, Minnesota owes $24 mil and retains the 2 years.
  • Bradford has the opportunity to work with Norv Turner. If Turner fails to get the most of what has been a mediocre QB, then Bradford will finish his career as a back-up.
  • The Vikings are built to compete off the backs of the defense and Adrian Peterson.

EAGLES

  • Free from the remainder of the $24 million still owed to Bradford
  • A chance to give to give the rookie they gave up so much for a shot. This being Carson Wentz.
  • If you remember the Eagles traded up to the Browns. Cleveland gave up the No. 2 spot to Philadelphia. In that trade, the Eagles gave Cleveland their 2016 first-round pick (No. 8), third-round pick (No. 77) and fourth-round pick (No. 100), plus the Eagles' 2017 first-round pick and a 2018 second-round pick.
  • Between Wentz and Chase Daniel they have a combined 2 NFL starts. If Philly completely collapses and earns a top-five pick after this season, that does them no good, because the pick is going to the Browns.

Mark Sanchez has 9 lives

The former starting NFL QB, will now be the back-up to Cowboys rookie QB Dak Prescott. After failing to beat out two young quarterbacks in Denver, the Broncos decided to part ways with Sanchez. After trying to get some value through trades, there were no takers. Sanchez was released and then picked up by Jerry Jones to be the back-up for Dak.

SO WITH DAK PRESCOTT AND CARSON WENTZ BOTH SLATED AS STARTERS. WHO HAS A BETTER ROOKIE SEASON?

Tom Brady - No NFL Decal

Scary moment in Seattle

Angels pitcher Matt Shoemaker was hit in the head by a 105 mph line drive in the second inning of Sunday’s game, dropping him to the ground and bringing Safeco Field to a standstill. With one out in the second, Kyle Seager (brother of Dodgers SS Corey) hit the line drive that stuck Shoemaker flush on the right side of his head (video). Shoemaker dropped to his knees and trainers from both dugouts rushed to treat him.Shoemaker's initial readings of CT scan indicate small skull fracture and small hematoma.
