There was a time when you only had a password for a handful of accounts like you email and your computer login. Those days are long gone. Today, you likely have a password for everything from your Netflix account to your online shopping account to the app you use to order pizza.

When you consider those passwords are essentially the keys to everything in your life, it’s alarming to consider just how little thought we put into creating them and protecting them.

According to Entreprenuer, 47 percent of all passwords haven’t been changed in the past five years and 21 percent haven’t been changed in a decade. That means some people have been entering the same password since the first iPhone came out.

In 2014, the most common passwords were 12345, password and 123456.
