Tim interviews Andrew Russell, a bit of the history of science and technology, and the upcoming Maintainers III conference.

Andrew Russell is Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica and Albany New York. He is a historian of technology who has published a number of books and articles on the history of the Internet, the history of standards development in the US and Europe, and the tensions and synergies between innovation and maintenance. He earned his Ph.D. from the Program in the History of Science, Medicine, and Technology at The Johns Hopkins University.

In this episode, Tim and Andy discuss:

  • The history of science and technology
  • The balance between innovation and maintenance
  • Details about the Maintainers III conference
