Day 126 of the podcast, reading 1 Chronicles 13-16 NET, read along at:

This is day 126 of our journey.
Again we are reminded of the greatness of David as he brings the ark of the Lord into Jerusalem. At first, he does so with great rejoicing, but without much thought for the sacred procedures that God has put in place for worship. As a result Uzzah, while guiding the ark, reaches out and touches it to stabilize it, and is killed. David mourns greatly over this death. But, then, David does research and realizes that God has set the Levites aside as the ones that are supposed to be carrying the ark and leading the worship of the Lord. So, with greater understanding and obedience, David attempts, once again, to bring the ark into Jerusalem but this time he does things the proper way. As they bring the ark in, David is dancing before the Lord and singing worship to his name.
The Lord is truly great and worthy of our praise. But as we praise, we must always strive to praise him in a way that is honoring to him. As Jesus would announce so many years later, "True worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth."
Join me in 1 Chronicles 13-16 to see an example of true worship.
Key verses:
1 Chronicles 13:10
The Lord was so furious with Uzzah, he killed him, because he reached out his hand and touched the ark. He died right there before God.

1 Chronicles 15:2
Then David said, “Only the Levites may carry the ark of God, for the Lord chose them to carry the ark of the Lord and to serve before him perpetually.”
