This is day 130 of our journey.

In today's reading, David gives his final commissioning charge to Solomon. He calls on his son to follow in his footsteps by following the Lord wholeheartedly through his reign. He rejoices and praises God for the many promises that God has given to David and to his people. Then he calls on the people of Israel to follow his lead and give gifts to help with the building of the temple. The people respond abundantly and everything needed for building the temple is provided. In the end, David dies and Solomon is established as king in his place.

Join me in 1 Chronicles 27-29 to see a father sending his son forward in the power of God.

Key verses:

1 Chronicles 27:23
David did not count the males twenty years old and under, for the Lord had promised to make Israel as numerous as the stars in the sky.

1 Chronicles 28:9
“And you, Solomon my son, obey the God of your father and serve him with a submissive attitude and a willing spirit, for the Lord examines all minds and understands every motive of one’s thoughts. If you seek him, he will let you find him, but if you abandon him, he will reject you permanently.

1 Chronicles 29:14
“But who am I and who are my people, that we should be in a position to contribute this much? Indeed, everything comes from you, and we have simply given back to you what is yours.
