Day 182 of the podcast, reading Psalms 108-113 NET, read along at:
This is day 182 of our journey.
Today we read 6 psalms of praise.
David wrote Psalm 108 as a compilation of psalms 57 & 60. Psalm 109 is David's appeal to God's justice as the king asks God to vindicate him and to bring severe judgment down upon his enemies. Psalm 110 is a royal psalm that announces God's oracle to the Davidic king.
Psalm 111 is an acrostic poem that praises God for his marvelous deeds with a special emphasis on the way in which he provides for and delivers his people.
Psalm 112 is another acrostic poem. It is a wisdom psalm, listing some of the benefits of living a godly life.
In Psalm 113, the psalmist praises God as the sovereign king of the world who reaches down to help the needy.
Join me in Psalms 108-113 and marvel at the wonderful deeds of the Lord!
By God’s power we will conquer; he will trample down our enemies.
He loved to curse others, so those curses have come upon him. He had no desire to bless anyone, so he has experienced no blessings.
A psalm of David. Here is the Lord’s proclamation to my lord: “Sit down at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool!”
The Lord’s deeds are great, eagerly awaited by all who desire them.
He generously gives to the needy; his integrity endures. He will be vindicated and honored.
The Lord is exalted over all the nations; his splendor reaches beyond the sky.
