Festivals & Expos

  • The bricks are back! The Columbus Museum of Art presents the return of “Think Outside the Brick: The Creative Art of LEGO”. The exhibit features an enormous model of Columbus featuring familiar landmarks. Admission starts at $5, but admission is free on Sundays! Visit for further details. This exhibit will run through March 2nd.
  • The American Museum of Natural History Dinosaur Gallery is open at COSI. The exhibit features full sized skeletons and models. Admission starts at $15. Visit for complete information.


  • Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo runs through January 1st (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day). Millions of LED lights will be turned on at 5pm each evening. This year, anticipate appearances by Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Bumble, as well as Santa & Mrs. Claus. Admission begins at $13. Visit for full details.
  • The Ohio Chinese Lantern Festival runs through January 7th at the Ohio Expo Center. This year’s display features over 15,000 LED lights and 35 Chinese lantern installations. Admission starts at $10. Visit for more information.
  • Franklin Park Conservatory presents Gardens Aglow opening Saturday and running through January 3rd (closed Thanksgiving & Christmas Days). The holiday event features elegant displays of poinsettias, seasonal foliage, lights, a model train display and more! Admission begins at $7. Visit for complete information.
  • The Alum Creek Fantasy of Lights display runs through January 1st. This three-mile drive-thru lighting display near Polaris features over 140 displays. Display opens at 5:30pm daily. Carload pricing begins at $20. Visit for full details.
  • Over 300,000 lights are on display in the Columbus Commons and in the downtown Columbus rea. There is no admission fee! Visit for further details. This display shall run through January 2nd.
  • COSI presents special movie screenings of “The Polar Express” on their Giant Screen Friday-Sunday. Tickets are $8-$10 (but does not include admission to the rest of the museum). Visit for screening times/days. Screenings continue through December 17th.


  • The Columbus Blue Jackets tangle with the Arizona Coyotes at 7pm Saturday at Nationwide Arena. Tickets start at $26. Visit for further information.

Mark’s “Out There” Pick of the Week

  • The annual Santa Speedo Dash is Saturday! Festivities begin at 12noon at the Three-Legged Mare in the Arena District. The participation fee is $45 with proceeds benefitting the Central Ohio Diabetes Association. Check out for more details.
