Manage episode 318058431 series 2969146
Dr. William Baber is an otolaryngologist/ENT surgeon in Auckland. There was no training for ENT surgery at the time he developed his interest, so pursued his training at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital in London. He returned to Auckland in 1974 as a Tutor Specialist, doing every type of ENT surgery before travelling for fellowship in otology in USA. He is also the president of the ENT and ORL Society, which is firmly established as an instigator of world recognised academic and teaching achievements.
In this episode, we discuss his journey into ENT, the evolution of ENT over the decades, his experience with the first cochlear implant in New Zealand, sign language and the deaf community, and his retirement plans.
