Happy New Year! Yes, its our first episode of 2021 in which we explore the Season 21 opener Warriors of the Deep. We are very pleased to be joined by the very lovely Martin (Andrew Ward) Holmes (Andy's 'A to Z of UK TV Drama' podcast co-host) as we hold forth on the much anticipated - well in 1984 - return of the Silurians and the Sea Devils. It is probably fair to say that we are all a bit underwhelmed by proceedings but we gamely attempt a fair critique of this oddly linear story which is essentially Earthshock Under The Sea. After a short period of orientation, there is much discussion of eyeshadow, jumpsuits and arch villainy and more Sea Devil impressions than you could shake a stick at. We also wheel out the Time Space Visualiser for a seasonally topical song chosen by Andy, a story de jour topical song chosen by Martin, and a random song chosen by Alex. And there's a 5th Doctor quiz from a battered copy of The Third Doctor Who Quiz Book. We hope 2021 brings you more joy than last year and that you enjoy the new Jodie episode this evening. Ta ta, Andy, Alex & Martin x Next Time: The Faceless Ones
