Pulitzer Prize-winning science journalist and book author Ed Yong's latest book, An Immense World, looks at the different ways animals experience the world from a sensory level. While Ed was in the midst of writing about this topic, a canine companion came into his life (for the first time ever), and gave him new insights into his work. Raising his corgi, named Typo, allowed him to reflect daily about what his own dog might be feeling, and leaned into these thoughts with curiosity and empathy which enriched his life, reinforced his book research and made him feel closer to nature, and the planet in a more profound way.
