Cigar of the Week - Arturo Fuente Special Selection brought to us by Duque Cigars (http://www.duquecigars.com/, 410 5th Avenue Indialantic, FL)
What else have you been smokin' Dale?
(Oliva Studio Tabac) Nub Double Maduro - 4” x 60 - or the Nub Dub as it’s affectionately called..... Really well constructed except they left off about 2” of the cigar! Dark, toasted flavors, rich and wildly complex. Notes of red fruit, leather, vanilla and yes - Marzapan over an oaky base.
Rocky Patel Decade Toro - 6.5” x 52 - More secret tobaccos! Rocky is proud enough to mention the dark maduro Sumatra wrapper, but the filler & binder in this cigar is hush-hush. However, this is one RP cigar I seek out occasionally due to the nice sweetness, dark coffee notes and great balance in a full bodied cigar.
(Hoyo de Monterrey) Excalibur Cameroon Merlin - 5.25” x 50 - From what used to be called the Excalibur 1066 line, now we have the Excalibur Cameroon. A full bodied Honduran cigar with a Connecticut Broadleaf binder and a Cameroon wrapper over a filler blend from Honduras, Nicaragua and the DR. I really enjoyed how the mild sweetness of the binder enhanced the slight spiciness of the wrapper. Both balanced well with the leather & earthy core of the filler blend.
What else have you been smokin' Bob?
Jameson Black Label - original release; the Black Label is a rich, complex cigar. The medium-full bodied blend features a naturally fermented Brazilian maduro wrapper, Honduran binder, and filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic. This is a bold smoke that commands attention.
Southbound Latitude by Jameson - Get the southern latitude attitude in a fine cigar, relaxing and smooth but full flavored. Latitude is the first release in the bundled SouthBound Series. A medium-bodied value smoke meant to be enjoyed every day. Latitude features Dominican fillers bound with a Criollo 98 leaf from the Dominican Republic and finished off with a broadleaf wrapper from Pennsylvania.
Chinnock Cellars Terroir - A nice medium-bodied smoke that goes well with other things like wine, cheese and chocolate. However, the cigar does not stand out on its own and becomes a bit boring after awhile.
Pueblo Dominicano Series II - The Series II is a very good cigar and comes at a reasonable price. Made from 100% Dominican tobaccos, it is rolled at the oldest cigar factory in the Dominican Republic, La Aurora. The Series II features a spicy four-year-old Dominican wrapper that perfectly compliments the complex blend of Dominican filler tobaccos. It is a medium-bodied cigar that has the exquisite flavor known to aficionados as that of a pure Dominican cigar, and even more impressively, it holds its own against the likes of more expensive puros such as OpusX and CAO Vision.
What's My Band?- This week's unbanded, the Man O' War Puro Authentico was provided by listener Camryn Freeze.
Palio Cutter Contest: The winner of the November Burl Palio cutter was Craig Rich. For December's contest, we are looking for photos of you and your friends enjoying cigars (all the better if they happen to be Esencias, but it will not affect your chances of winning). Send your entry to theshow@cigarmedia.tv. Please include your mailing address with your entry and type "Palio" on the subject line. Don't forget, you must re-enter the contest every month to be eligible to win. December's prize will be a silver Palio cutter.
Do you have a suggestion for the unbanded cigar of the week? Every week Bob and Dale include an “unbanded cigar” segment in their show in which they smoke a cigar without any markings and give their honest opinions. Bob then opens a sealed envelope and discovers the cigar’s name and manufacturer. If you have suggestions for the "What's My Band?" segment, please send them to liz@cigarmedia.tv.
Do you have a Cigar Review? If you call and leave a cigar review on the herfline and it is played on the show, you will receive a DogWatch Cigar Radio patch! You can reach the Herfline at 321-594-4373 - or cigar.radio on Skype. You can also send email to theshow@cigarmedia.tv.
