We watch “Let’s Kill Hitler” (Series 6, Episode 8) where we finally get the origin story of Amy and Rory’s childhood friend Mels. Mels: the girl who never doubted that Amy’s “Raggedy Man” really existed. Mels: the girl who knew Rory was totally not gay but was hot for Amy’s ginger bod. Mels: the woman who was to the surprise of no one but Steve a previous incarnation of the person known as River Song. Yada yada: fast-paced misdirect. Yada yada: River origin story. Yada yada: time traveling robot sees River kill not Hitler. Whilst we also discover the origin of River Song’s crippling student debt. Oh the horror!
