Auckland is back to the "new normal", returning to Alert Level One this morning.
Restrictions were eased at midnight, after officials determined the Papatoetoe High School cluster is now under control.
Heart of the City chief executive Viv Beck told Kate Hawkesby businesses will be breathing a sigh of relief.
"Level 2 is certainly better than level 3, and people who are able to trade have been able too."
Beck says the hospitality industry has been constrained, so the alaert level downgrade is a crucial change.
