Editor Curtis Gillespie speaks with Lisa Gregoire about her winter 2015 story "Breathing Holes." The harrowing essay sees the newspaper editor and reporter go back to the scene of violence she suffered from an abusive boyfriend 20 years later, to report on the experience, her memories and who she was vs. who she's become. In this podcast, recorded the morning after it snagged a National Magazine Award, Gregoire explains why she wrote the story and the difficulties of going back to a past she'd disassociated from herself for decades. Thanks to Kevin Sexton for his help recording this at the CANADALAND studio in Toronto.
