Welcome to the Elevator World News Podcast. This week’s news podcast is sponsored by NEW AUSTRALIAN NCC GOING INTO EFFECT MAY 1 The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) will be enacting Australia's new National Construction Code (NCC) on May 1 following a three-year cycle of industry comment, review and revision, MENAFN and The Conversation reported. The nation's defining operational document of building regulatory provisions, standards and performance levels, its goal is to provide the minimum necessary requirements for safety and health, amenity, accessibility and sustainability in the design, construction, performance and livability of new buildings. Noncompliant building materials (specifically, combustible cladding), was among the biggest points of emphasis. Other fire safety concerns drove changes in the code, and heating and cooling issues were applied as part of the performance-based approach. Anyone can propose changes to the NCC at the ABCB's website.
