Quote of the day…

He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

Luke 11:28

We’ve had a great reply to the prayer Monday and already seeing amazing things happening in peoples businesses so if you’re in need of prayer in your business feel free to get in contact with me, I will be sure to pray for you and let see what God does in your life.

If we are going to manage our money well and prosper we need to be able to listen to God and what He teaches us and what He wants you to do to build the wealth, and even more importantly what to do with the wealth you do build.

I was at a business summit once with some girlfriend’s, the speaker was a fellow Christian business coach, he was great, he was one of the reasons I changed direction with Empowering Her Business to be God focused, so praise to him for you reading this book today…

At the summit the speaker said something to be that suck in my heart and I knew it was something I needed to do for the rest of my life. At church we hear how important it is to spend a little time each day with God, to sit in His presence and read His word.

The speaker suggested that maybe a little time each day with God isn’t enough! That if we are to grow businesses and wealth we need to be delving into the word a little bit more than a little time each day, he gave an example that one day he decided to block out a whole hour in his diary each week that’s completely dedicated to God.

Once he got stuck into the word, he soon found that one hour wasn’t enough and he need more time. He then started dedicating two hours a week, soon that wasn’t enough so he decided to take out a whole afternoon and spend time in worship with God and reading His word.

He found that as he was doing this the more his business grew, without changing marketing or anything else, (clearly all these things are important in a business) but just having that time with God, building his relationship with God and not being distracted by nothing else, his faith grew and his business grew. I knew this was something I needed to start doing!

I am still practicing getting it right, as some weeks as you know don’t go to plan, but I found the same thing happened to me… The more I got closer to God and my faith and trust grows within God the more everything else grows naturally.

To have righteousness and to be faithful to God, I believe we need to listen to Him. A relationship is built from communication and experience. To become best friends with someone we need to communicate both ways, to speak to God with Prayer and to listen through His word and through whatever means you hear God through your spirit.

It’s not just us asking things from God, we need to listen to what God is telling us too. We do this from reading God’s word after all in Luke 11:28 God tells us “Bless rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

As business owners, investors or even in general to build the trust and relationship with God we need to spend time with Him, reading His word and seeking what He tells us today.

We are saved through Jesus dyeing on the cross and through relationship building with God, He doesn’t only bless you with eternal life but He loves to give us blessings on earth as well for our enjoyment, as long as our hearts are in the right place with him and we follow what is written.

“Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.”

Proverbs 16:20

I encourage you to get your diary out write now and work out where you can dedicate time with God, to read through His word. Without distractions, kids, emails, social media. Switch your phone off if you need to.

If your life is filled with too many distractions I strongly recommend you read my other book simply focused, where I share my experience and guidance of how to simplify your life, to get rid of distractions and save you more time, you can find this on my website www.empoweringherbusiness.com/shop/.

“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”

Romans 10:17

When I spent this time with God I found two big things happen, one the more my trust in God grew, the bigger the things He gave me to trust him with grew. EEK! Which means the trust building never stops, it grows bigger and bigger. When you think you’ve reached the top, God will test your faith even more with even bigger mountains. Through bigger money goals, in life and business. The more adventurous the stories become.

Second, things happened that I would never expect. Connections would come up that I wasn’t expecting, God provided resources for me that I would never expect to get that I didn’t have to get my wallet out for. He provided money at the right time to make things happen or so I could keep building the things I needed to get the job done.

He is incredible.

The more you put into learning God’s word and to listen to what He has got to say to you the more you and your business will grow. The more you begin to understand what God is asking of you to the more you can push harder for Him, He will open your eyes and if you play by His rules, God with prosper your journey.

Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Philippians 4:9

Some people have asked me how I study the word and how I listen to God for my business. There is no one fits all when it comes to studying the bible, worshipping or however it is that you connect with God.

Photo Jul 27, 5 42 40 PMIn this podcasts I will give you some examples of how study and listen to God and some examples of how other people do it. I encourage you to try them all out and see what works best for you and your personality. After all we are creative creatures and everyone creates in different ways.

For me, I like to keep things simple. I like to pick a topic or subject and find out all the bible verse about the topic and then go through each one, sometimes I don’t just read the verse but I might read the whole chapter or story.

I take notes in a journal, I might write about them in a blog, writing things out and study is how I learn the best. I’ll also have my laptop open so that I can research word meanings, or look at other people’s opinions about a verse or topic.

After each session I also have a prayer journal. I find prayer journals so powerful because you can see what you pray for and when you prayed it so you can go back through.

My prayer journal has a number of different elements… On the front I have a list that I read each morning of all the things I am thankful for and I thank God for them. Here are some examples…

  • I thank you God for my family and my family that is to come.
  • I thank you for my business opportunities and the opportunities that are to come
  • I think you for the money i have and for the money that is to come.

I then like to write the date on each new page, I write above the title line who God has shown provision over my life, so if He has provided something I needed or done something cool so I remember all the amazing things He’s done in my life.

I then right down general praises (there is no limit to how many points) I then write out my prayers in bullet point. These are prayer for my business, family, or whatever and whoever is on my mind. If I need to I will write to God to get things off my mind or whatever it is. I hold nothing back… After all He knows my heart anyway.

I like to pray for women in business too, at Empowering Her Business we have a Prayer Monday, each Monday I ask my community to send in their business prayer requests and I take note in the same diary with dates and pray. If I hear anything I believe is from God I will let them know otherwise I just let God do His thing for them.

I know other people who like to read their bible in full stories, some people like to draw and paint. Some people pray just by talking to God out load or in their head. Find whatever is right for you. I just find if I don’t write them down, I get easily distracted.

Now some of you reading this might be thinking, I’m stuck with direction on what to do with my business and feel stuck (I hear this comment quite a lot with my mentoring), I’m trying to listen to Gods instructions and nothing is coming through.

From my experience I have found that God is actually giving you the choice to decide and He is happy for you to pick with whatever makes you happy, another reason might be because you need to learn something before you can move on. Another reason might be that it’s not the right timing and with a little bit of patience God has got things lined up for you, it’s just not now.

Other problems I receive from my community is, God has given them a vision and they are too scared to take action. They are scared of the success and what will happen if they do to take action with Gods vision for their life.

This is why mentoring is so cool, I can guide you and help you move forward with the vision God has given you by building your confidence and giving you direction. That’s also why it’s so important to surround yourself with likeminded, positive people that will build you up and support you.

Let me tell you now, God has given you this mission and vision for a reason, getting into Gods word for a good chunk of time each week will be a breath of fresh air. Maybe God is just waiting for you to stop, so that you can hear Him and so He can show you what you need to hear. Maybe He needs you to stop and listen so you can rest. Either way, you can’t afford not to spend time with Him, either way He’s going to help you prosper.

Here are some questions for you to think about in your time with God that will help with direction and things that you can ask Him to help guide you:

Where is your diary can you make a block of quality time to spend with God?

What has God put on my heart that I am passionate about with wealth building?

Has God given me a vision? What’s stopping me from going forward with that mission?

What gifts or talents do I have that people comment or come to me on advice for?

What do I love doing?

What’s my favourite way to make money? Business, investing, both?

Get down deeper, what type of business or investment? What has God put on my heart to invest in?

Remember everything is in His timing… Spend time in His presence and see what happens.

I hope that’s helpful for you, if you need any help with your business, feel free to contact me via email or through social media, I would love to hear from you.

Here is the downloadable I said I would do in the podcast to help you with your God time.

Enjoy!
