What happens when you love the work, but not the practice? This comes up frequently for Physicians who want to spend more time with their patient, but struggle with the requirements of the insurance companies and the churn of traditional outpatient practices. Today my guest is Dr Katrice Brooks, and she shares how she decided to walk away from her employed position to build a Direct Primary Care practice that allowed her to do the work she wanted to do, in the way that she wanted to do it.
Dr Katrice Brooks is a Double board-certified Physician in Family and Lifestyle Medicine, with over 10 years of experience in Primary Care after completing her medical training at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, followed by residency at West Surburban Family Medicine Residency in Oak Park. She values spending time with her patients, and connecting with them in order to provide whole-person care. She is passionate about health equality and patient autonomy, as well as improving lives by reducing medication burden. In 2021 she founded Quench Clinic Fitness and Spa, a wellness center to accomplish this serving Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the Chicagoland area. The DPC offers a virtual gym to patients, and Dr. Brooks offers medical aesthetics with a passion for making darker skin glow.
