Mom-Life-Crisis-Halloween-Pro-Tip1.jpg

Welcome to our first, not at all spooky, Halloween episode in which we discuss our Pet Peeves and Pro tips to help you have a better Halloween, even if that means phoning it in and drinking mulled wine on the sofa. Like it or not we'll give you a full rundown of our favorite halloween costumes, and what our kids have dressed as year by year in case you need a few ideas.

The Things We Can’t Even

Leanne- This year, 2016 is a big bully and I’m ready for a new one.

Jennie- Ava, the new texting robot that helps you eat better. Check HER out here. You may get waitlisted.

Our Personal Halloween Costumes of ALL Time

Leanne dressed up as Captain Jack Sparrow, she was 22 and feel minimal shame.

Jennie dressed up like a Historic Swedish girl, Kirsten Larson from American Girl novels, which you can buy here.

Our kids have dressed as:

Jennie
2010: Boone was a bear (snuggly sleeper with bear ears; he was 2 weeks old)

2011: Boone - lion
2012: Boone - train conductor
2013: Boone - Woody from Toy Story
2014: Boone - dinosaur, Jonah - dragon we called a dinosaur

2015: Boone - “Old Iron Face,” the classic Scooby Doo villain no one could identify or remember, Jonah - Scooby Doo
2016: Boone - Perry the Platypus from Phineas and Ferb, Jonah - Woody from Toy Story (hooray for the art of reusing!)

Leanne:
2009- Noelle- Hedgehog
2010- Noelle- Bumblebee
2011- Owlets and Kel was their tree
2012- Elephant and Purple Polka Dot Kitty
2013- Minions
2014- Superman and a Black and White kitty, our cat Alfie actually
2015- Baked Goods

2016- Pokemon including a Klefairy, Flareon and a Pikachu… Kel is dressing up like a big Pokeball and he’s going to randomly hug them and yell Gotcha. He won’t be doing this to other children though, I promise.

Halloween Favs
Jennie loves kids (or anyone for that matter) in costumes as well as fun fall activities and the family in her neighborhood that hands out Jello shots to parents and wins Halloween.

Leanne loves Heirloomy pumpkins, those FIRST trick or treaters and passing off PayDay candy bars as healthy protein-filled snacks.

Pet Peeves
Jennie can't deal with all the candy, especially the gross black and orange peanut butter nuggets and Leanne hates inflatable yard decorations and skanky costumes for girls of all ages.

Pro Tips

Check out the Teal Pumpkin Project to be friendly to kids with allergies and and the Switch Witch to trade all that candy for a less overwhelming prize.

In a pinch for warm costumes? Embellish a sweatsuit with a tail or ears on the hood and you're good to go, Hanes.com has a wide selection. And if all else fails, con someone else into taking the kids trick or treaters and text you pictures.

Over the next few weeks, anyone who leaves us a review on iTunes is entered to win a $10 Amazon gift card, so head on over and leave us some love!

As always we're talking about this and other things at facebook.com/groups/themomlifecrisis and we're on Instagram here as well.
