The Bible teaches that one of God’s name is Jehovah Nissi – the Lord Our Banner. In other words, He is our flag that we hold up to express our unified effort to celebrate certain principles and standards.
Christians are called to live in a certain manner in order to identify our heritage or citizenship. Since our citizenship is heavenly, according to God’s own likeness, we as God’s people are called to hold up the identity of the Lord above our flesh in order that He would be glorified.
