- The Celebrity status is gone after they retire & it doesn’t take long for people to forget who they are
- The limelight moves onto the next kid who takes their place
- This leads to big drop in self confidence & self esteem
- Shannon did some landscape gardening while still playing a little bit of reserve grade in 1999
- Shannon just loved playing footy & influencing young kids, signing young kids autographs for them
- Big thing Shannon has learnt is to become a good listener.
- Communication & open & honest communication goes a long way to making the transition more smooth
- Try & think from other people perspective. You don’t know what’s going on in someone else’s life. So be careful before you go off at someone or reacting to someone who may be having a bad day.
