Emma Kate Lewis is a Maltese writer who is way too polite and lovely to be on this podcast. Host Ryan Sim does his best to crush her well-intentioned excitement about The National's new album to dust, and she does her best to indulge his grievances. I think this is what they call discourse? Anyway, "Sleep Well Beast" sounds like a Coldplay album from the future. It's a dystopian album, but where a show like Black Mirror fills the future with lots of spooky excitement, The National imply that the future will just be a dull grey blur, and even though that's not super fun to listen to, they're probably right. Emma disagrees, as is the point of this podcast.
