When you bring a retired librarian and a retired principal from Tyler Heights Elementary together, you end up with a passionate force to be reckoned with! (Sorry about ending that sentence with a preposition--just deal with it.) Paula Hendry and Tina McKnight head the local affiliate of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library!

Less than 50% of students entering the Anne Arundel County School system are reading at grade level. And for less than $100, the Imagination Library will send an age-appropriate book to a child from birth to age 4 every month to foster a love for reading. At the end of the program, the child will have amassed a library of their very own with 60 beloved books! Currently, they serve about 3,700 children in Anne Arundel County; but the need is closer to 30,000.
