Learn to stop worrying and love the bomb, the malty booze bomb of a double IPA from Defiant brewing. This week’s film, Stanley Kubrick’s Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb, is a classic work of dark comedy and satire. To stand up to such a film, we had to go Weapons Grade.
A double IPA is a style of beer that announces itself from the first sip. Big, bold and boozy is what you expect and Weapons Grade from Defiant Brewing is certainly all three. Probably sweeter than most hopheads will appreciate Weapons Grade still hits hard with a big malt profile and an unfiltered look. At 9% ABV it certainly qualifies as a Double or Imperial IPA and provides an interesting change of pace from the rest of the herd.
FILM: Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb
DIRECTOR – Stanley Kubrick
STUDIO – Columbia
BUDGET – $ 1.8 Million
IMDB
Stanley Kubrick’s filmography reads like a top ten list of film classics. A one-man Criterion Collection. He made many films on many subjects, but the subject of war is one that he revisited several times. Somewhere between the gripping realism of Paths of Glory and the twisted conventions of Full Metal Jacket lies Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb. Maybe the greatest work of political satire ever made. This week we take another look into the work of the master Stanley Kubrick and attempt to reconcile the “Mine shaft gap”.
