Many of us have heard the phrase "sitting is the new smoking," but where did this come from, and is it actually true? Or is there more nuance needed? This is exactly what this week's guest, Dr. Rick Richey, and I discuss in this episode.

Today's modern, sedentary lifestyle — where we sit in our cars, we sit at our desks, and we sit on our couches — is certainly doing its damage to our health outcomes. So how do we address it, and is more needed than just a daily workout?

Rick has a Master's degree in exercise science and a Doctorate in Health Science. He's a husband and a father, a gym owner, and many personal trainers may know him through the educational work he does with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), including hosting the NASM CPT Podcast.
