Josh’s turning point came when he realized he wanted to start deciding what to create versus creating solely for others. His father was an inspiration to him, having had his own company also and this rubbed off on Josh at an early age. Josh realized he was drawn to responsibility, autonomy, and control. It was no surprise then that he began his career as a software and web developer and later started a wide variety of companies in the auto industry and software security before landing in the education sector where he wanted to make a difference the most. Josh had to expand his knowledge and skillset as moved along from being an employee to owning his own companies and developed a strong relationship with one of his bosses, Bill Phelan, whom he later linked up with to start College Factual. He wanted to save people time and money in selecting a college, when the costs of picking the wrong major are increasing along with tuition year after year.
