For this week’s episode of Geekorama, we’re talking about the trailers that were just released through the DC Fandome virtual event. What looks amazing, what we’re excited about, and what we’re probably going to pass on.

Pop-Culture Trivia - The Suicide Squad

Some serious Z listers in this sequel, here’s some info on a few:

TDK-Otherwise known as The Detachable Kid or Arm-Fall-Off-Boy. The character first appeared in Secret Origins Vol 2 #46 in 1989. He was originally from the future and has never canonically been a member of The Squad. In the movie, he’s played by Nathan Fillion.

Polka Dot Man- First crossed paths with Batman in 1962’s Detective Comics #300. He uses detachable polka dots as weapons, some that transform into different objects. He is played by David Dastmalchian in the movie.

Ratcatcher 2- Detective Comics #585 introduced the Ratcatcher, the original villain was a ratcatcher who had knowledge of the sewer tunnel system in Gotham and could talk to and train, you guessed it, rats which he used to restrain, and torture victims and to smuggle goods. The film introduces us to a gender swapped version of the character who appears to be a legacy since she’s the second one. She’s played by Portuguese film actress Daniela Melchior

GEEK OUTS

Trish -Lucifer Season Five, Part One. OMG, I binged it in one day and am having some withdrawals. We got some GREAT fan service, Tom Ellis is an acting genius as he portrays not just Lucifer but his twin brother Michael and fans finally got the moment we’ve been waiting five seasons for!

Jeremy - Been going on a vampire rampage lately. Burned through the five Underworld movies (and soon onto Blade.) Underworld 1 is a classic and just an all around good action film. The rest start getting more and more convoluted as they attempt to expand the storyline and shoe-horn in some romance. Thankfully Kate Beckingsdale returns for the final two (three is worth skipping!)

Deep Dive - The DC Fandome Trailers!

WW84-Absolutely will see, this trailer made me want it even more if that’s possible. I’ll be there opening weekend.

The Batman-I’ll catch it on Amazon, at this point, seen the previous dozen Batman films, you’ve seen them all.

Suicide Squad-I am optimistic with James Gunn at the helm and the team of Z listers he’s assembled that this could be what the first Squad movie should’ve been. And Elba, Capaldi, and Fillion don’t hurt either.

Gotham Knights-Now THIS is the Batman movie I wish we were getting, why? Because Batman is dead, hear me out. I would love a spin on the Batman mythos that shows us what Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, and Red Hood would have to do in the wake of Batman’s murder to protect Gotham and navigate the murky waters of his legacy. If they make this for the Switch I will play the crap out of this game!

The Snyder Cut- Do I have to say it? Hard pass. If you need four hours to tell a Justice League movie, you don’t know what the hell you’re doing. And I’ll admit that the toxicity of the fans who clamored for this makes me want to avoid it even more.

Black Adam- Um...ok? What am I looking at here?

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League-Meh, looks ok story-wise. Not enticed to play.

QotW: What trailers from the DC Fandome got you excited?
