Do you have more than one income stream in your business? Multiple streams of income are how we avoid the "feast or famine" cycle and create stable revenue for our business. Today, we're diving into using Affiliate marketing to create additional income streams for your handmade business. Rick has been in affiliate marketing for nearly a decade, primarily managing affiliate programs for brands. But he’s been an affiliate too, so he has a unique position with insight on both sides. He knows what it takes to get started in affiliate marketing and promote other people's products and services. Rick is joining us today to talk about how affiliate marketing could fit into your overall income strategy being a handmade product maker.

BUSINESS BUILDING INSIGHTS

  • Prioritize what really makes a difference in your business and focus on that.
  • Make sure your product is validated and dialed in before you start working on less important things (like the perfect logo).

How to Create Additional Income Streams With Affiliate Marketing

  • Affiliate marketing is a phenomenal way to make extra income from what you’re already doing.
  • You don't have to have a huge audience to be an affiliate. Even if you have a small audience, you can still do affiliate marketing.
  • List the products or programs you want to work with and reach out to the companies to see if they have an affiliate program.
  • Think beyond your own products. You can promote any kind of product that you are passionate about.
  • Promote things you have used and loved, whether it applies specifically to your business or not.
  • The purpose of affiliate marketing is to talk about things you've actually used and loved. If you don't know anything about it, it's difficult to promote well.
  • If you already have a website, add a page with the products and services along with the affiliate links so you get credit for the sale.
  • Know the benefits and features of what you're promoting.
  • Maximize your efforts by actively promoting to your email list and network. Don't only rely on your website links. <-- Pro tip!
  • Think outside the box - affiliate marketing allows you to be as creative in how you promote products as you can be.
  • You can also create an affiliate program to allow others to promote your own products. <-- Listen to get all the details on this!
  • Important - you must disclose that you'll receive a commission as an affiliate when you promote the links (whether on your website, in email, or whatever).
  • Tune in to get the whole story on creating additional income streams with affiliate marketing!
