Exodus 36-39 Life “with God” is the ultimate destination. “All this was done just as the Lord commanded Moses.” Exodus 39:1, 7, 21, 26, 29, 31, 43 - God wanted His People to know that even more than the Promised Land, “with God” was their ultimate destination. - The most frequent promise of the Bible is “I will be with you.” “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20 “God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and He will dwell with them. They will be His people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.” Revelation 21:3 - “With” God is the only way we flourish. “Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us.” Genesis 1:26 “For” God v. “With” God Dangers of allowing “for” God to trump “with” God… - “For” can rob us of the abundant life God has for us “with” Him here and now. - “For” can be unintentionally harmful to those we are trying to help or bless. “We are His workmanship, created for good works in Christ…” Ephesians 2:10 - “For” has the potential to crush us. “Better Life of Blessings” v. “Better Hope of Intimacy with the Father.” (The Pressure’s Off by Dr. Larry Crabb) PAPA Prayer: Present myself to God as I am – good, bad, or ugly. Attend to where I notice God’s presence or absence. Purge myself of whatever, at the moment, might be keeping me from noticing more of God. Approach God with abandon and confidence, wanting to just be with Him to know and enjoy Him, not to use Him to make my life better. Being an Image Bearer means that my identity, my joy, and my purpose are completely wrapped up in my relationship with God. Not the blessings of God, but God. “Our souls cannot rest until they find rest in Thee!” – St. Augustine “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.” – John Piper “To know, enjoy, and glorify God!” - GPBC Mission Life “with God” is our ultimate destination! Reflect: What would it look like to shift from a “for” God life to a “with” God life? How will I lean into life “with” God this week?
