Sean Larkin is the Brewmaster at Revival Brewing. He also made exceptional brews for Trinity Brewpub from episode 082. Revival is a bit of a standout in the Rhode Island brew scene. Sean feels as though their location caught a lot of flak when they initially opened. But Sean believes that the Providence suburbs deserve something awesome. This week’s Great Beer Adventure dives into what he’s helped create at 505 Atwood Ave. in Cranston Rhode Island.
Revival Brewing: Beers
Revival loves to pay homage to the local businesses that they’ve partnered with and been supported by. This includes some coffee roasters and awesome restaurants.
Note: You may notice that a gorilla is featured on two of their beers. What you may not know is that there is a mythical missing scene from the 1933 classic “King Kong.” Peter Jackson recreated it in stop motion style. Don’t click if you have a fear of quasi-claymation iguanas and arthropods attacking people.
White Electric Coffee Stout (8.5% ABV )- A mix of malts — Maris Otter from England, Chocolate, Crystal, Roasted Barley and Chocolate Wheat — along with EKG hops and specially-roasted White Electric coffee from New Harvest roasters create a complex beverage with notes of bittersweet coffee and chocolate.
Fanny Session IPA (4.7% ABV) – Dedicated to the loving memory of Fanny the elephant, 7 distinct hop varieties were used to concoct this unique, wet hopped Session IPA. Simcoe, El Dorado, Mosaic, Equinox, Centennial, Kohatu, and Rakau combine to create a big hop presence that is matched with amazing drinkability.
Holey Moley Coffee Stout (8.5% ABV) – Brewing a new version of our White Electric Coffee Stout, we teamed up with the El Rancho Grande crew to bring you the secret spice kick you desire. Select chili peppers and spices were introduced into our EKG hopped coffee stout to truly give new life. Spicy, dark, and delicious.
Distribution
Revival is proud to be Rhode Islands largest distributor of beverages to Japan. This may be due to the fact that Revival is the only distributor to Japan in the state. Either way, Sean is elated when he sees pictures from small bars in Japan featuring Revival’s beer. Only a few pallets of their brew are able to hop on a plane and make it across the Pacific ocean every year.
Until Next Week
You can find where Revival’s beers are carried on their websites location page linked below. Also, if you have any caves in your neighborhood you may want to go check them for hidden caches of beer.
