Jones goes to the Metro with his buddy Black to see Kasabian. Experiencing Japanese psychedelic heavy metal for the first time Jones finds himself entranced with the roaring sonic wave that is Bo Ningen, Kasabian’s opening act. Ignoring the fact that he did not understand a single word during their performance Jones gives a thumbs up to a band that he is certain will soon rock future Riot Fest landscapes. Following this musical triumph Jones rocks out to Kasabian and their grade A performance. Post concert Jones and Black head next door to The Gingerman Tavern where Jones sees Chicago Cubs play by play man, Len Kasper, a well known North Side concert goer, former Marquette University classmate, and a guy who, when Jones sees in public, always thinks is looking at him, thinking that Jones is looking at him. (Did you follow that?) Mike suggests that Jones reach out to the voice of the Cubs and inquire if he does in fact have a problem with his podcasting partner. Mike recalls an awkward concert experience at the Metro from years back with his sub five-foot tall boss, and then breaks down Kasabian’s show with Jones. During the discussion of Kasabian’s performance Jones reveals his irrational fear of British rock bands not like Americans or enjoying their time in the United States. Jones and Mike discuss the advantages of small venues versus large arenas or stadiums and the stupidity of waiting around to see bands after the show. Dovetailing off of the small venue versus large venue discussion Jones and Mike wonder what life is like backstage and if rock stars ever get bored of having sex with random and willing ladies. Related to their “tired of sex” discussion Mike tells Jones about watching an interview the previous Sunday on CBS Sunday Morning with Billy Idol where the aged rocker discussed his inability to stop him self from backstage sex and hotel romps on the road with groupies. Jones and Mike debate the charms of a Billy Idol and then veer into a discussion Lyle Lovett and his surprising success with the opposite sex and Mike wildly defends Lyle’s charm and sex appeal.
