Today we talked with Natalie Young, the soprano principal vocal artist (07/07) about the importance of the arts.
Dazzling audiences with her light lyric coloratura voice, soprano Natalie Young has made her mark performing a wide variety of styles from opera to pop.
As an oratorio soloist, Ms. Young’s credits include: Mass in Blue (Todd), Stabat Mater
(Pergolesi), Song of the Shulamite (McCullough), Requiem (Mozart), Messiah (Handel),
Requiem (Brahms), Dixit Dominus (Handel), Messe Basse (Fauré), in addition to Bach
cantatas 22, 36, 140, and 211.
She also maintains a busy recital and concert schedule and most recently sang as a guest soloist with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Players Association, Purdue University - Fort Wayne, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, and various concert series' in the Fort Wayne area. Her concerts often feature her command of pop, country, jazz, and musical theatre styles. She was a finalist for the American Prize - Women in Opera Professional Division in 2017 and is the two-time St. Louis Chapter Winner of the National Society of Arts and Letters Dorothy Lincoln-Smith Vocal Competition. She was also selected as a semi-finalist for both
the MIOpera Vocal Competition in 2020 and the Opera Birmingham Vocal Competition in 2017. Before she was singing professionally, Ms. Young was awarded the Encouragement Award at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2010.
A member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Ms. Young maintains an
active voice studio at Heartland Sings and regularly adjudicates competitions, serves as a clinician, and teaches workshops focusing on varying aspects of vocal performance.
Natalie is currently the Associate Artistic Director and Principal Vocal Artist at Heartland Sings where she periodically serves as a conductor. She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Voice Performance from Belmont University and a Master of Music Degree in Voice Performance from the University of Missouri - Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance.
