Olympic events are well under way and anticipation's building for tonight's opening ceremony.
More than 10,000 athletes are competing despite Covid cases linked to the games now reaching more than 90 today.
Athletes from 200 countries will take part in tonight's parade.
New Zealand chef de mission Rob Waddell told Heather du Plessis-Allan it's just great to be starting.
“Athletes are really excited to be in there and competing. I know the rowers had some great racing this morning, we had the women's football again the other night too, and it's just exciting to be here and for athletes to be lining up.”
