For those who may not know who Charlie McCarthy was... he is the "doll" with the top hat in the photo. Edgar Bergen was a ventriloquist who made it big or radio... 1936-56. He was that clever and that good at what he did! The announcer on the show was Don Ameche. You will hear Charlie try to recite "The Night Before Christmas" from memory as a way of getting a very special present promised by Edgar if he can recite it without a mistake.... it doesn't work out well... but a very entertaining segment... enjoy. www.facebook.com/heirloomradio Also on Itunes and Google Play Music.
