Many local and regional radio stations jumped on board the country music bandwagon in the 1930's and 40's... often imitating the formats of shows like the National Barn Dance out of WLS in Chicago, IL which began in 1924 and ran until 1968! Started out local, then to NBC, and ABC, plus international via shortwave radio. This track is from a station in South Carolina, WIS, whose "Barn Dance" program was on Saturdays at noon and featured local and regional musicians in a format similar to the National Barn Dance program. Track features an intro with history of the Barn Dance programs and a list of the songs heard on this track. First song is Alabama Jubilee! If you enjoy the track, please give it a "Like" it really helps me know what listeners want to hear! Thank you.
