Today I have with me Teresa Gallegos and Dustin Dierenfeldt, the vice-president and president (respectively) of the Kansas chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors. Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) is an organization that provides both short term and long term support to the surviving family members of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

This episode will not be a detailed account of any line of duty deaths, but rather the focus will be on the survivors: the family members and co-workers and their stories of loss. Listen to Teresa and Dustin explain what their experience was like and how it impacted them. Notice how they use that terrible experience in a positive manner to reach out to other survivors in a way that most of us can't begin to understand.

Today's episode contains limited descriptions of traumatic experiences. Listener discretion is advised.
