In today’s episode, we’ll discuss the current Ukrainian refugee crisis that resulted in light of the Russia-Ukraine conflict . We will dive into role of the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees, or UNHCR in the Ukrainian crisis. What are some of the key methods that are currently being implemented for Ukrainian refugees, particularly across Europe? How has this international agency relieved the effects of the ongoing crisis, and how may their response create an avenue for change in future conflicts?

Here to answer our questions is international security and UNHCR expert, Mr. Erol Yayboke. Erol Yayboke is a senior fellow with the International Security Program and director of the Project on Fragility and Mobility at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). He has long-term field experience working for organizations in Iraq, Afghanistan, South Sudan, and the Somali Region of Ethiopia. Mr. Yayboke teaches a graduate level course on global fragility and resilience at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. He previously served on the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign and the Evidence for Policy Design team at Harvard’s Center for International Development.
