Plus, an incredible story to boot, thanks to Bob Perischetti, Phil Lord, and co! Up next, HORROR CLASSIC corner! Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)! That's right, the OG Body Snatchers. Directed by Don Siegel and starring Kevin McCarthy (ironic surname for this film), Dana Wynter, and Larry Gates, Invasion of the Body Snatchers invaded audiences over a half-century ago and yet our fascination with this pop sci-fi horror story has never wavered. This movie has been made 4 times, but you have to go to the beginning to see why and what's so special and unnerving about this incredibly creepy novel turned film. Beautiful black and white, 1950s Americana, oh, and you can't trust your neighbor. From the Hollywood Blacklist to McCarthyism and commies, this movie has been dissected and studied for years all the while the director says it is only surface deep. Regardless of the meaning you take from it, which is the beautiful thing about art, this is an awesome movie and we'd love to have you join us as we dive right into the 1950s, pods, and aliens and get into the headspace of the turn-of-the-century Atomic Age audience that would've sat down to enjoy this ride of a movie! Horror is where the heart is, and this movie absolutely lives up to its accolades.
