Application Questions
1. Can you describe a time when you have ever been wrongfully demoted, at work, on a team, in a certain position? How did this make you feel (ashamed, embarrassed, humiliated)? Jesus willingly left the joy of heaven to give himself to utter wrongful humiliation and for the sake of doing the Father’s will and loving His people. Our experience of shame cannot be compared with His. Spend a few minutes sharing different Scriptures that tell of the shame he experienced and the contempt shown to him (To you as GCGL: this is simply an exercise for the group to encourage one another in the word around this precious gospel). Then have someone pray giving thanks to him for what he endured for the sake of his people.
2. What are currently valuing more than Jesus Christ? What pleasure, comfort, position, relationships are you giving more allegiance to than Jesus? Help one another think through what repentance of this would actually look like.
