I was discovered by veteran broadcaster David Jacobs on BBC Pebble Mill in 1996. We became great friends, touring together over many years. Last Friday would have been his 90th birthday. To mark the occasion the BBC staged a special Friday Night Is Music Night presented by his daughter Emma Jacobs. Here's my personal tribute to David, with contributions from singers Michael Ball, Hannah Waddingham and Rodney Earl Clark.
