9-year-old Bryce’s quick thinking and CPR performed by his father, Tony, while awaiting the paramedics is what helped to stabilize his mother Kyra after her heart had stopped. However, in the hospital Kyra’s heart stopped again. Over the next 8 hours, Kyra’s heart had to be defibrillated another 37 times. The doctors were on their third defibrillator and were about ready to give up. Tony had to prepare the family and Bryce went running down the hall to his mom’s room. Pushing past the doctors and nurses, he got onto his mom’s bed and said, “Mom, if you can fight, I need you to fight. I love you mom. I know you love me. Forgive me if I did anything wrong. And I love you mom.” His little voice reached his mother and Kyra began to stabilize.
