At age 7, Jenylyn was found passed out under a picnic table. The doctors thought it was dehydration. Through early adulthood, she fainted several more times with other explanations being stressed out and over physical exertion. At age 22, 6 weeks after giving birth, she went into cardiac arrest. The cardiologists looked at her medical history and a family history of medical disease to help piece together the diagnosis of Long QT syndrome and complete heart block. Her heart’s electrical impulse was not passing from the upper to lower chamber. This is a congenital and hereditary disease that her daughter could possibly have. Jenylyn has had to push for checkups for her daughter and now takes her in for annual EKG’s. She also makes sure that her daughter is properly hydrated for their active lifestyles, which has included running 5K and 10K’s together.
