SOCIAL MEDIA BILLS UPDATE - There are additional efforts in Washington TODAY to improve online safety for kids and teens. The Senate plans to vote on several online safety bills that would hold tech companies accountable for the information children are exposed to online. It would also require social media platforms to use the highest possible privacy protection settings and allow minors to opt out of algorithms. This comes as a Gallup survey shows more than half of teens report spending at least four hours a day on social media. The initial vote on the social media bills, known as the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) and the Children’s and Teens Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA 2.0) is expected TODAY. Nicole D’Antonio is in Washington with the bipartisan effort to protect children from dangerous content online.
