On this episode of Behind the Pages, we speak with Nikhit D'Sa and Ha Yeon Kim about their work to create, validate, and deploy ISELA (D'Sa et al.) and TOOLSEL (Kim et al.), instruments which assess the social and emotional learning skills among Syrian refugee children in two contexts.

Nikhit D’Sa and Allyson Krupar are authors of the research article, "Developing and Validating the International Social and Emotional Learning Assessment: Evidence from a Pilot Test with Syrian Refugee Children in Iraq," and Ha Yeon Kim, Kalina Gjicali, Zezhen Wu, and Carly Tubbs Dolan coauthored the research article, "Teachers’ Observations of Learners’ Social and Emotional Learning: Psychometric Evidence for Program Evaluation in Education in Emergencies," both of which were published in JEiE Vol. 7, No. 2 - Special Issue on Psychosocial Support and Social and Emotional Learning in Emergencies (December 2021).

Behind the Pages is the podcast of the Journal on Education in Emergencies (JEiE). For more information about JEiE, and to read all JEiE issues free of charge, visit www.inee.org/journal.
