On this episode of the Seekers of Meaning Podcast, Rabbi Address chats with Charles Rothschild, a long-time board member of the Union for Reform Judaism and the World Union of Progressive Judaism, about his coaching and mentoring activities around “Reinventing Retirement.”

About the Guest

Charlie Rothschild is one of the key lay leaders working with the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) in the South Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. This effort is building a broad organization of both religious and secular institutions organizing to address issues of inequality that affect families in the Bay Area. Charlie also helps lead Congregation Beth Am’s Equal Start Program, focused on systemic improvements for early childhood education in California. Charlie is an officer in the World Union for Progressive Judaism (WUPJ), a Jerusalem-based organization that promotes Progressive Judaism throughout the world. He also continues serving on the Board of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ), where he has been actively involved for over 25 years.

In his “spare time” Charlie is an avid pilot, co-owning a plane which is run as part of flying club. Charlie and his wife also chase after three very wonderful grandchildren.

Charlie retired from the high tech world, where he managed world-wide Research and Development programs for companies including Hewlett Packard, Agilent Technologies, and JDS Uniphase. He is a past President of two congregations, Temple Shalom, a small congregation in Waterloo Ontario, and Congregation Beth Am, where Charlie and his wife Susan currently live, in Los Altos California.
