Dr. Gene Moore and Dr. Angela Sauaia present highlights from the April 2014 issue of The Journal of Trauma. Highlighted articles include: Dr. Austin Porter from Arkansas Department of Health and colleagues from the University of Arkansas describing benefits of statewide trauma call systems; Robert Sise, a medical student at UCSF, in collaboration with surgeons at Scripps Mercy in San Diego and the Stanford University defining the epidemiology of trauma related mortality in the US; Dr. Carole Villamaria in collaboration with the University of Michigan and military regarding developing the endovascular skills for trauma and resuscitative surgery course (ESTARS); and finally Dr. Mark Maxfield and colleagues from Yale regarding the failure of nonoperative management of perforated appendicitis from 2004-2011.
