God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.

Glory to God in the church! Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus! Glory down all the generations! Glory through all millennia! Ephesians 3:2-21 (the msg)

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)

The Choice of Worship

Again David gathered all the choice men of Israel, thirty thousand. 2 And David arose and went with all the people who were with him from Baale Judah to bring up from there the ark of God, whose name is called by the Name,[a] the Lord of Hosts, who dwells between the cherubim….. 2 Samuel 6:1-2

Leaders ALWAYS have the opportunity to lead in WORSHIP.

We, as BELIEVERS, are CALLED to lead His presence EVERYWHERE we go;

We are called to a LIFESTYLE of worship, letting it PERMEATE every area of our LIFE and INFLUENCE.

As we LIVE OUT this call it will EFFECT EVERYONE and EVERYTHING around us.

David GRASPED that worship would UNLEASH the LIMITLESS POWER of God in every area if his life and influence.

The Tension of Worship

16 Now as the ark of the Lord came into the City of David, Michal, Saul’s daughter, looked through a window and saw King David leaping and whirling before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart.

In our worship, we should always give GRACE to those who don’t get it.

Caution: When we don’t “get something” we shouldn’t automatically DISPISE it or CRITCIZE it.

For: The life of a critic is a barren life.

17 So they brought the ark of the Lord, and set it in its place in the midst of the tabernacle that David had erected for it. Then David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord. 18 And when David had finished offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of hosts. 19 Then he distributed among all the people, among the whole multitude of Israel, both the women and the men, to everyone a loaf of bread, a piece of meat, and a cake of raisins. So all the people departed, everyone to his house.

Our lifestyle of worship should first BLESS God, but then BLESS all those God has put around us.

20 Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, “How glorious was the king of Israel today, uncovering himself today in the eyes of the maids of his servants, as one of the base fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!”

Caution: We should REALISTICALLY EXPECT our worship to offend someone. But that reality should not deflate our soul.

When people bring attention to us because of the PRESENCE of God, we should always DEFER the attention to God IMMEDDIATELY.

21So David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the Lord. 22 And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor.”

As we live out a lifestyle of worship, we are carrying out our APPOINTED positions.

Proper, humble, practical worship will always LEAD others to want to worship. Worship will turn people’s hearts TOWARDS God, not away.

Why? Because worship should always be filled with joy, admiration, encouragement, life, grace, hope, and the list goes on.

The very thing our world needs, we possess through our privilege to WORSHIP.

The moment I make worship about me, and what I can get out of it, I short circuit the power of God in life and the lives of others.

TOUCH TEN:

The Big Two:

Will you allow God to speak to you about how your worship is affecting others? Will you position your life, for a life of worship, by making Christ the center of your life?
